Required Enlisted Training
PQS – Completion of the HM PQS applies to Hospital Corpsmen graduating from the new “A” School curriculum implemented on 5 July 2017 and assigned to a Budget Submitting Office (BSO) 18 medical treatment facility (MTF). HMs who graduate “C” schools via training pipeline are not required to complete the HM PQS. All Reserve HMs should make every effort to complete their corresponding PQS during their annual training period, or on active duty orders while assigned to an MTF within 36 months of reporting onboard. HMSB – All HMs shall maintain Hospital Corpsman Skills Basic (HMSB) proficiency and demonstrate the HMSB skills in a clinical setting at least every 2 years. There is an online component that must be completed prior to the skills competency assessment. Deficiencies could result in consideration for HM rating removal. (BUMEDINST 1510.23D)
EMWBT – All reserve HMs, PAs, Physicians, APNs, and Nurse generalists shall complete the Expeditionary Medicine Web Based Training (EMWBT) on NKO within 90 days of reporting to their first command. This is a one-time requirement only. (BUMEDINSTR 1510.25)
TCCC – All reserve HMs, PAs, Physicians, APNs, and Nurse generalists shall complete TCC training within 180 days prior to each Individual Augmentee (IA) or Health Services Augmentation Program (HSAP) deployment or every 3 years in order to maintain readiness. (BUMEDINSTR 1510.25)
TBI – Providers and clinical support staff who have not completed training, must do so within 90 days of reporting aboard. (NAVMED POLICY 11-004)
CBRNE / EMPRC – The Emergency Medical Preparedness and Response Course (EMPRC) is tailored to our target audience in two versions (see below). Located on JKO. Required every 3 years (BUMEDINSTR 3440.10).
Operator/Responder Course: First responders/receivers (e.g., general corpsmen, non-clinicians, MTF security personnel, MTF based Basic EMS).
Clinician Course: First responder/receiver clinicians, physicians, dentists, veterinarians, nurses, physician assistants, independent duty corpsmen.
FEMA – Federal Emergency Management Institute’s Introduction to Incident Command System (ICS) for Healthcare/Hospitals (ICS-100.HC) should be completed by the hospital personnel that would have a direct role in emergency preparedness, incident management, and/or emergency response during an incident. One time requirement.
HIPAA – The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Privacy Act training is required of all medical personnel. HIPAA must be completed within 30 days of on-boarding and annually, thereafter. The course is accessible via JKO.
- BLS – American Heart Association approved training required to be renewed every 2 years. Must provide a copy of CPR card to DET TO, NOSC Medical Department Representative, and the Credentialing Office. Failure to maintain certification will result in the inability to provide clinical care and may result in administrative action.
ACLS – Required for specific provider specialty and practice areas. Requires renewal every 2 years

Immunization Training – 8 hours PLUS influenza training required annually. Defense Health Agency Immunization Healthcare Branch. The DHA-IHB Seasonal Influenza Training modules are available on JKO.
Bloodborne Pathogens – Required for personnel who are assigned or may work the clinic. See NOSC Medical FTS for additional information.
Dental Infection Control – required training for dental techs and those that work in the dental clinic. You must complete this training with your dental infection control officer.
Dental Sterilization – required training for dental techs and those thtat work in the dental clinic. The following training must be completed on SWANK:

Dental Instrument Sterilization Training (DentIST) (Consists of 5 modules) – NM-17-DIST
DTS Online Training – The following web-based DTS courses are required for all DTS positions from traveler up through LDTA. The CO of the NRA is responsible to ensure all required training is completed. These courses are mandated by reference (l) and chapter 2 of reference (e) and are available to complete online in DoD TRAX. Travelers. Anyone who travels via the DTS.
